Qualified, yet Single: Why Good Black Men Are Single.

I’m not sure I agree this is a question that has been widely asked, however someone is exploring the topic… take a peek at the trailer and see what you think… I don’t have too many words for this one, I think the clips speak volumes…

A film that explores the lives of several “well-qualified” single Black men who reveal their reasons for being single. Dr. Dwayne Buckingham’s primary reason for doing this film was to give single men, who are perceived to be well qualified, a platform to speak their truth, but also provide single women with the subtle red flags to look for in a “good” man prior to jumping into a relationship.

“It’s hard to bring something in that may taint what you’ve made good.”

“If I meet the right queen, I will get married… period.”

Alrighty, Dr. Buckingham…thanks for this…I guess

So Kim K Didn’t Choose An African Man, But…

But…I can live with her choice.

So by now it’s common knowledge that Kim Kardashian is dating Kanye West. For the past few weeks, the pair has been seen all around NYC world together. If you recall, I had previously suggested that Kim K should try out an African man after her divorce, see HERE, however I guess she figured Kanye was a better fit. Kim has been linked in some way to many men, and has been married twice, however as soon as I heard that her and ‘ye were together, I immediately thought ‘hmm this could work’… and I’ll tell you why I thought this…

At a basic level, we are attracted to people who are on the same wavelength as us, and as much as we’ve heard that high-powered women should marry down in order to create balance in their lives, there’s something to be said about marrying a man on the same wavelength as you (and this is not to take anything away from Kris Humphries).  Kanye and Kim share more of an equal spotlight, and have an understanding of what this means on each other’s personal relationships, I think. What partly led to the demise of Kris and Kim was him wanting to live in Minnesota during his off-season, and not in the spotlight in NYC. (And let’s be honest, he was jealous of her popularity as well). Kim doesn’t have to deal with any of these issues with ‘ye.

I also heard Khloe mention this on a radio show- that ‘ye and Kim have been friends for several years, and it is nice to see her with someone she has developed a friendship with first, before jumping into a relationship.

…that’s something I can get behind. What are your thoughts? Is this relationship built to last?
